This is where I'm currently at with this task:

There isn't really publicly available data for the outgassing of brass, and so I wasn’t able to find any data this week on what two years versus five years looks like for brass. Most sources simply say to avoid its use completely. In general, zinc sublimates in a vacuum, so by using brass, you run the risk of having your fasteners degrade and potentially having zinc condensing on electronic elements and causing problems. Zinc whiskers shouldn’t be a problem though, since they seem isolated to zinc-electroplating. With a longer mission duration, we would certainly have more sublimation, which could be problematic, I just don’t know how problematic.

I am currently researching ways to prevent sublimation or at least mitigate its effects. It seems that nickel-plating is often used and would likely be a feasible option, so I am looking into it right now. Open to suggestions of course.
