Description

I've uploaded a few resources on basic optical and imaging theory to the references folder of the Iris optics drive. I would strongly recommend reading Limitations of hyperspectral earth observations on small satellites as well as Image Quality Metrics, though it's a bit of a long read

The purpose of this user story is to conduct a literature review on the optics design and performance of existing multispectral imaging payloads for cubesats. The literature review will help us to identify the best practices, challenges, and trade-offs involved in developing our own optical system. The literature review should cover the following topics:

- Optical design principles and methods for multispectral imaging
- Optical components and materials selection criteria and availability
- Optical alignment and calibration techniques and tools
- Optical performance metrics and testing methods
- Optical system integration and verification with other subsystems
- Optical system operation and data processing in orbit

The literature review should be documented in a report that summarizes the main findings, compares different approaches and solutions, and provides recommendations for our own optical system design. The report should also include a list of references and sources used for the literature review.
