Description

Responsible: @Kevin Liu

Accountable: @Ben Harbarenko

Consulted: @Ben Harbarenko

Informed: Mechanical team

What: Compile existing documentation regarding rail switches in new document. Document should adhere to AlbertaSat template. Verify existing switch placement calculations, re-do calculations if necessary. Communicate conclusions of calculations in document. Adjust placement of switches in CAD to reflect findings. Design and implement mounting solution in Atlas to accommodate switches. This will include a preliminary design of a PCB to interface the switches electrically and mechanically. The electrical design can be handed off to power team but you must figure out the footprint and hole placement for this PCB. Raise any concerns regarding the mounting solution conflicting with requirements with @Ben Harbarenko.

Make a copy of this template for the new doc, file it appropriately in the mechanical folder of the drive: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nUw2zygU70439N1lSbqOxVaZOrs1Jze_rDc5KQUY9RY/edit

Why: Rail switches are a required component for initiating LEOP. The placement of these switches implicates hole placement in Atlas. Atlas machining will begin soon so this task is time sensitive.
