What: Locate the mass budget in the drive and assess its present state. Ensure that there is a line item for ever component of the satellite based on the current CAD. Verify the current most recent values for the mass estimate of each component. Ensure that every mass estimate is sourced and justified. Reach out to responsible sub-systems as needed to verify values and obtain reference documentation. Identify next steps in progressing the maturity of mass budget and report next steps at the next mechanical meeting.

Why: Mass budget is required to track the total mass of the satellite on a system wide basis as the design matures. It is a tool to identify any failures to meet mass requirements and guide the design actively. Maintenance of this document is critical.
