openConduct Trade Study and Select an ADCS System
100%
Description
Who: The ADCS team. Help may be requested from other teams should any issues or bottlenecks be encountered.
What: Under the umbrella defined by the high-level investigation, an in depth investigation will be conducted into possible systems for the ADCS. This will include an overall system description, the components that comprise the system, how the ADCS interfaces with the rest of the satellite, what its performance is, what its power consumption is in different operating modes, what its pointing accuracy is, the cost, and anything else that is relevant to making a decision. Then, after lots of careful consideration and requirements and system review, one ADCS will be selected.
Why: Choosing the correct ADCS is imperative for the satellite to properly orient itself and therefore for mission success, and with this view in mind, must be done carefully over many weeks with constant checks and updates. This is the first step in many to finalizing the best ADCS for the next satellite.
