Description

The purpose of this task is to conduct preliminary research on the feasibility and implementation of auto-focus for the payload camera. Auto-focus is a feature that allows the camera to adjust its focus automatically based on the distance and brightness of the target object. This feature could improve the image quality and resolution of the payload data.

The research should include:

- A literature review of existing auto-focus algorithms and techniques, such as contrast detection, phase detection, hybrid detection, etc.
- A comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each technique in terms of accuracy, speed, complexity, and power consumption.
- A feasibility analysis of implementing auto-focus on the payload hardware and software, considering the constraints and requirements of the mission.
- A preliminary design proposal of an auto-focus system for the payload camera, including a block diagram, a flowchart, and a list of components and specifications.

The expected outcome of this task is a report that summarizes the findings and recommendations of the research. The report should be clear, concise, and well-referenced. The report should also include a risk assessment and a contingency plan for the auto-focus system.
